As you prepare for your initiation into The Magical Golden Dawn, we offer you these suggestions:
- Read through the material
on this page from the beginning to the end without following any links.
- If you
decide this is something you want to incorporate into your own spiritual
practices, then follow the links you want to follow.
- Study what appeals to you
and the things you'd like to learn more about.
- Do not waste your time studying something you do not want to learn at this time.
- Focus on your initiation and the things you want to learn.
In our experience, trying to learn something
that does not appeal to you is a complete waste of your time and energy. True,
some things are more difficult to learn than others. Our suggestion when you
find something difficult to learn is to start asking questions.
Somebody had the
same issue and was able to find an easier way. We have a discussion group where
you an ask these kinds of questions. If that might embarrass you, we suggest you obtain

1. RITUALS
The rituals of the Magical Golden Dawn are easy to learn and
master. They are also very effective in accomplishing their intended purpose.
The unique method of the Magical Golden Dawn is to encourage each and every
member to change and adapt our rituals to create your own unique way of doing
things based on who you are, your knowledge and experience and your own
intuitive insights. Learn to create and use your own rituals. They will be more
powerful than anything we force you to learn.
Keep it
simple. The more complicated you make it, the harder it is to remember.
If it feels complicated to you, find an easier, simpler way to do it. Ask for
suggestions from others following this path. You can make it easy for yourself,
or you can make it hard on yourself. The choice is yours. In our experience
easier actually works better.
THE FIRST RITUAL - BANISHING AND INVOKING
RITUALS
The Banishing and Invoking Ritual for Air,
Water, Fire and Earth Elementals plus Invoking Spirit rituals are the basic
rituals of The Magical Golden Dawn. They are used as a
foundation for many other rituals. As with all things we teach, students are
encouraged to simplify this ritual according to their own knowledge,
proclivities, experience and wishes.

THE SECOND
RITUAL - THE ELEMENTAL CROSS
The second ritual
is as old as recorded history. The Elemental Cross, or any of its
variations by various names, is an intrinsic part of the Sphere of Protection.
There are two primary variations. Candidates may use either one or any
variation of their choice.

THE THIRD
RITUAL - THE SPHERE OF PROTECTION
The Sphere of
Protection and the Sphere of Protection Against Psychic Attack are used to
protect the magician while he or she travels the inner planes as well as
during day to day activities in this mundane life. This ritual is recommended
prior to any and all magical rituals and initiations. The previous two
rituals are an intrinsic part of the Sphere of Protection and should first
be practiced until they can be performed effortlessly.

RITUAL
- LESSER BANISHING RITUAL OF THE PENTAGRAM
The Lesser Banishing Ritual of the
Pentagram (LBRP) was made popular by the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn.
This ritual is widely practiced by magicians. While it is not part of
the ritual regimen of The Magical Golden Dawn,we feel students should
become familiar with the LBRP and then decide to use it or the Invoking and
Banishing Ritual of the Magical Golden Dawn in their spiritual practices.
Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram
- This ritual is optional, but well worth
knowing.
2. LESSONS
The Candidate is encouraged to learn a little about the Tree of
Life and Elementals. In the Magical Golden Dawn we work with both in a safe and
nurturing environment as we travel our own unique spiritual path.
THE FIRST LESSON - THE TREE OF LIFE
The Tree of Life Lectures form the basis
for our spiritual work. Understanding the Tree of Life and the Sphere of Protection
are the two most important things the new student will learn.The degree
work of the Magical Golden Dawn, and all other Golden Dawn traditions, uses
the Tree of Life for the basic spiritual practices.

THE SECOND LESSON - THE ELEMENTALS
Elementals are the basic
working units in the Angelic Realm. They are different than Nature
Spirits though they are often confused with them.

Students are encouraged to learn a form of
simple and easy meditation that completely relaxes the body and mind. The chiefs
consider the most powerful form of meditation to be the Essene Healing Breath taught by the Modern
Essenes. The Magical Golden Dawn recommends it to you.

3. OPTIONAL LESSONS
The optional lessons are intended for those who think they want
to travel the path of the Magical Golden Dawn. These lessons form an
introduction to the materials you will learn as you move through the Tree of
Life step by step. Tarot, Astrology and Numerology are a part of the system.
While you will become familiar with all three you will not be required to master
any of them.

4. YOUR 0 = 0 INITIATION - THE SEEKER AFTER
TRUTH
Candidates who
feel confident with their readiness are invited to enter The Magical Golden Dawn as a
Candidate. The Short Form Initiation is recommended for most people. Golden Dawn
buffs and scholars will appreciate the Long Form Initiation. All Candidates have
the option of doing either or both initiations.
