The Seeker

PREPARE YOUR TEMPLE AND YOURSELF

Set aside a block of two hours to take your initiation.

Set up your altar if you have one. If you don't have an altar, you can build one rather quickly by choosing five objects to represent the five elements and placing them on a square cloth, such as a bandanna or handkerchief, or other square surface.[(Note that we suggest a square because it seems to work better for most people. But this is only a suggestion.) It will be easier for you to follow the ceremony if you place the representatives for Air in the East, Fire in the South, Water in the West, Earth in the North and Spirit in the center. You may use any directions for the elements as is comfortable for you. You may use any objects to represent the five elements.

Bathe and prepare your body for a spiritual experience. Wear loose and comfortable clothing. If you have a robe set aside for magical work, put on your robe. If you don't have a robe, you may choose any piece of clothing to be your symbol for doing magical spiritual work.

Perform the Sphere of Protection ritual and extend this sphere outwards to fill the room in which you'll be doing your ceremony.

Seat yourself comfortably and relax. Breathe deeply and meditate using the Essene Healing Breath or other meditative technique. Raise your vibration. Visualize your Spirit Guide. Ask your Spirit Guide to be with you during the ceremony and to assist you in learning the things you need to learn from the ritual.

GO TO THE MAGICAL GOLDEN DAWN TEMPLE

Visualize yourself walking up to the Temple Building on the appointed day of the New Moon at the appointed time . See yourself knock on the door three times. See the door open and see the Outer Guard standing there with a sword in hand. The Outer Guard greets you and asks you to follow.

You follow the Outer Guard to the inner door and you know a meeting is in progress on the other side of the door. The Outer Guard seats you and asks you to be patient. In a few minutes there is a knock on the door to the ritual room and the door opens. The Inner Guard looks through the doorway and says: "The Temple is open for business."

The Outer Guard advises the Inner Guard that you are present for your initiation. The Inner Guard responds to prepare you and seek admission when you are ready. The Inner Guard retreats inside the Temple and closes the door.

The Outer Guard hands you a blindfold and asks you to cover your eyes so that all you see is darkness. The Outer Guard instructs you to visualize your Spirit Guide and place the blindfold on yourself when you're ready. As soon as you blindfold yourself, the Outer Guard takes you by the hand, asks you to arise and leads you a few steps and says: "You now stand before the door to Temple Zero of The Magical Golden Dawn. To gain admission you must knock one time and await further instruction."

You reach out and feel what you believe to be a door. You knock one time. You hear a one knock response. You wait. Eventually the door opens and you hear the voice of the Inner Guard greet you: "I welcome you, (your name), into this sacred Temple for the purpose of helping you initiate yourself into The Magical Golden Dawn. But before you may enter this sacred place, it is necessary for you to become purified by the Elements of Air, Fire, Water and Earth. If you are willing to proceed with this purification, please nod your head as a sign of your acceptance."

You nod your head.

You feel a breeze on your face and you hear: "I purify you with Air to remove from you all negative attitudes, restricting beliefs, impure thoughts and worthless ideas. I invoke the powers of Air to help you attain positive attitudes, freeing beliefs, pure thoughts and ideas of great value."

You smell something like burning incense and you hear: "I purify you with Fire to remove from you all wrongful intentions, misdirected passions, and all career problems. I invoke the powers of Fire to help you attain beneficial intentions, loving passions and a resolution of all problems with your career."

You hear the sound of water and the words: "I purify you with Water to remove from you all hurtful emotions and all poisonous relationships. I invoke the powers of Water to help you attain helpful emotions and nurturing relationships."

You're instructed to open your mouth wide. You do. You taste something salty and you hear: "I purify you with Earth to remove from you all illness and any lack of abundance. I invoke the powers of Earth to help you attain robust health and abundance in your life."

You hear: "(Your name), having been purified by the four mundane Elements, I now ask you to proceed to the altar." You take the hand of the Inner Guard and proceed to the altar. There you are caused to kneel.

You hear: "The Spirit of the Divine knows that you have long wandered in darkness and now seek the light of mystical and esoteric knowledge. The members of this Order stand ready to assist you in that quest. But before we offer you any further assistance, we require of you a solemn obligation to keep the secrets which we are about to reveal to you. Do you so agree?"

The Inner Guard prompts you to say yes or no. If you decide not to keep the secrets of Magical Golden Dawn secret, you are advised to discontinue this ceremony and to seek other avenues of instruction. If you do decide to keep the secrets of Magical Golden Dawn secret, you are to visualize yourself as saying "yes" and continue.

The voice continues: "Give me your right hand which I will place on this holy symbol upon our altar. Give me your left hand which I shall hold while you take this obligation. Bow your head, repeat your full name and say after me:

"I, (your name), in the presence of the Divine and in this Temple of Seekers do solemnly promise and swear that I will not communicate the secrets of The Magical Golden Dawn to any person who is not a member of Magical Golden Dawn.

"I further promise and swear that I will study the teaching materials of Magical Golden Dawn and compare these teachings with others available to me so that I may better understand my own spiritual path to the Divine.

"I further promise and swear that I will practice the rituals, meditations and ceremonies of Magical Golden Dawn or any similar rituals to gain further knowledge and assist myself on my own spiritual path.

"I further promise and swear that I will assist The Magical Golden Dawn to the best of my ability to help others learn the public teachings of The Magical Golden Dawn, which are not held secret, as my time permits.

"To all this I promise and swear."

The person holding your hand releases it and says: "You entered this Temple in darkness but you searched for the light and now see this Temple in the light. This is to teach you that we all enter this world in darkness and of our own free will we either decide to remain in the darkness or to seek the light. Those of us who decide to seek the light will find it and we will know the truth and the truth will set us free. As a symbol of this transition from the darkness to the light, The Inner Guard will remove your blindfold, and lead you around the Temple from darkness to sunrise to daylight to sunset. Thus the Sun moves across the heavens each day and the Seeker moves through each lifetime.

"You have long lived in darkness. Quit the darkness and seek the light."

You hear a number of voices, including the Inner Guard, all respond: "Quit the darkness and seek the light."

You visualize the blindfold being removed and you open your eyes to see your right hand resting on a symbol of a white triangle with an equal-armed red cross in the middle. This symbol is at the front of the altar. At the back of the altar are four burning tapers arranged in a triangle with a yellow taper at the apex and furthest from you. The front row of three tapers are green on your left, red on your right and blue in the middle. Standing on the far-left corner of the altar is a black column about one-foot tall. Standing on the far-right corner of the altar is a white column about one-foot tall. Standing around the altar in a semicircle are several people with you and the Inner Guard forming the focus of the circle.

The speaker continues: "As you travel about this Temple, the officers will instruct you with the lessons of a Seeker. Arise Seeker and follow the Inner Guard in pursuit of knowledge." [ Continue your initiation with the Seeker Initiation Lessons. ]
